About

Anne is a staff writer and editor for the Kansas City Public Library. She’s also the author of Secret Kansas City (Reedy Press, Sept. 2020), co-author of Kansas City Scavenger (Reedy Press, May 2022), and a Kansas City-based freelance writer who contributes to KCUR 89.3 (NPR in Kansas City), the Kansas City Star, and The Pitch. Her work has also been published by the Smithsonian, National Public Radio, the Saturday Evening Post, Reasons to Be Cheerful, Electric Literature, Ploughshares, Literary Hub, Publishers Weekly, The Punch Magazine (India), the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Chicago Review of Books, the Glasgow Review of Books, Rain Taxi, and Drink Me Magazine. Locally, her work has appeared in Flatland, The Beacon, In Kansas City Magazine, Kansas City Magazine, KC Studio, DesignKC, and on the Kauffman Foundation’s website.

She’s the producer of Lit Hub‘s FICTION/NON/FICTION podcast.

Anne is a graduate of St. John’s College, Santa Fe, and has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing/Media Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she serves on the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Board.  She is also a graduate of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA, and a Navy veteran.
